Wellbeing and Pastoral Care

Happy Girls Learn Best.

At Rowan, wellbeing isn't an initiative or a single lesson; it's part of everyday school life.

We know that girls thrive when they feel happy, known and supported. That's why pastoral care sits at the heart of everything we do, creating an environment where every girl feels safe to be herself, confident to embrace new challenges and encouraged to reach her full potential.

Known as individuals and cared for by our dedicated team, Rowan girls develop the confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing they need to flourish both in school and beyond.

Pastoral Care That Puts Every Girl First

Our small school community means we get to know our girls and their families well. Our pastoral team works closely with teachers and parents to understand each girl's individual needs and provide the right support at the right time.

Girls know there is always someone they can talk to, whether they need help navigating friendships, managing emotions or building confidence through life's inevitable ups and downs.

Building Confidence & Character

Wellbeing is woven throughout the school day, including weekly Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEW) lessons where girls learn practical strategies for understanding emotions, building positive relationships and managing challenges.

Our Star Qualities recognise and celebrate the characteristics that help girls flourish, including resilience, empathy, perseverance, confidence, creativity and curiosity.

Space to Be Herself

Rowan's beautiful Spinney and woodland Glen provide space to explore, play, reflect and connect with nature.

From birdwatching and outdoor learning to imaginative play with friends, these spaces give girls the freedom to be children while developing curiosity, independence and confidence.

We also offer activities including mindfulness, yoga, creative therapeutic sessions and our annual Wellbeing Week, helping girls understand how to look after their minds and bodies.

Working With Families

We see parents as partners in their daughter's wellbeing. Regular communication, parent workshops and specialist talks help us support girls consistently between home and school.

We also provide additional support where needed, including for girls who may be young carers or facing other challenges. We work sensitively with families to ensure every girl has the understanding and practical support she needs to thrive, both personally and academically.

If you'd like to talk to us about your daughter's wellbeing or pastoral support, please contact our pastoral team.
