At Rowan Preparatory School, our academic programme inspires and develops the whole child through a breadth of engaging experiences.
Early Years (Preschool to Year 2)
Preschool at Rowan Brae: A creative, hands-on ethos encourages girls to discover, question, and explore. Outdoor learning plays a key role, with weekly visits to our 23-acre woodland for enriching activities.
Reception: An environment where your daughter’s learning will flourish. Abilities and talents are identified and developed through carefully planned, differentiated tasks, encouraging your daughter to become a self-motivated learner and confident communicator.
Years 1 and 2: The curriculum is broad, balanced, and personalised, fostering a love of learning. Weekly philosophy lessons build analytical skills and promote understanding and respect for differences.
Transition to Rowan Hill (Years 3 and 4)
- Girls move to Rowan Hill, where they enjoy specialist teaching alongside form-based learning in a nurturing environment.
- Our small class sizes and specialist teaching spaces enable us to extend far beyond the National Curriculum, ensuring differentiation, support, stretch and challenge for every girl.
- Dedicated spaces, such as the Engineering and Technology workshop, inspire creativity and problem-solving, from designing inventions with 3D printers to building and testing kit cars and exploring the world using VR headsets.
Preparing for the Future (Years 5 and 6)
- Focus on independent thinking, learning skills, and initiative to prepare girls for senior school.
- Expert guidance ensures a smooth transition, with every Year 6 girl securing a place at her chosen school. Many achieve scholarships at prestigious institutions.
Rowan girls leave us confident, capable, and ready for the next stage of their educational journey, carrying warm and happy memories with them.
