On Thursday 24 January, the Year 1 girls visited Guildford Museum where they experienced life as Victorian school girls. The girls had the opportunity to play with authentic Victorian toys and sort toys according to their age and materials. It was great to see that so many girls had entered into the spirit of the day with their costumes and Victorian lunches. The girls all sat obediently at their sloping desks in the classrooms and wrote neatly in their copy books using pens and ink, being careful not to smudge their work. They also used slate pens and slates to create a life drawing of a real but immobile owl! They all sat beautifully in their rows and the back straightener did not have to be used once!
