At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month – we will remember them. We marked Armistice Day with a Year 6 Remembrance assembly and streamed the service live to each of our classrooms and our wider parent and governor community. Mrs Clarke spoke about the importance of remembering all those who died for our freedom and explained the significance of the burial of the Unknown Warrior which was 100 years on this day. The girls in Year 6 read moving poetry commemorating the bravery of soldiers and told the story behind the red poppy, a symbol of Remembrance and of hope, including hope for a positive future and a peaceful world.
We stood in silence and listened to the Last Post and felt very moved by Eileen’s piano playing, Delilah’s violin solo and Annabelle’s stunning harp playing.
Thank you, Year 6, for leading a very memorable morning.
