IAPS and Essa Swimming Finals

28 June 2018

IAPS and Essa Swimming Finals
Girls from the Rowan Prep U11 Swim squad have finished a super school year of swimming by qualifying and competing in the IAPS Nationals and the English Schools Finals.  A huge achievement and a wonderful end to their swimming at Rowan.  Here is a round up of both events by Heidi our Captain of Swimming.

Our first finals were the IAPS at the London Aquatic centre.  We had qualified in the regional rounds in the 50m Backstroke and the Freestyle relay.  The atmosphere was exciting as we waited for our events.  In the 50m backstroke I qualified for the finals and eventually placed 10th nationally and in the freestyle relay we placed 9th after shaving 4 seconds off our qualifying time.

The following Saturday, we all travelled to Sheffield on the train as a team to the English National Finals which was great fun.  The atomosphere in the pool was amazing, it was packed with schools from all over the country competing for a national medal.  There was a parade and the National Anthem was played before the start.  The Medley relay was our event, in an exciting heat, we qualified for the B team final where we placed 3rd with a good time.

Well done to Elsa, Heidi, Katie and Bethan,  I felt really proud to be Captain thank you.

Heidi Captain of Swimming.
