Girls from Rowan gym squad have had a busy two weekends competing in the biggest gym competitions of the year, the IGSA National competition and the IAPS Gymnastics Championship. In both competitions Rowan performed extremely well scoring well across the board. Well done to our U11 team who achieved a place in the national final and to Y5 team who achieved 1st place at the IAPS and to Amelie for 1st position in the individual category. Here is a summary of both competitions from Mrs Massie.
Rowan Prep participated in the ISGA 2 piece National competition on 16th November at the Royal Masonic School. The facilities at the school were amazing so we arrived at the competition feeling equally nervous and excited to take part.
Both the U10 and U11 team performed confidently on floor, showing control and extension throughout their routines. On vault all girls displayed strong and powerful vaults, many improving on their vaults from previous years.
The U10s finished in 4th place, missing 3rd by 0.05! The U11s competing in the advanced category finished in 7th place and qualified for the national finals in March. Well done!
IAPS took place the following weekend at Kent College. We had three teams participating in the competition - U9, U10 and U11. Despite being such a prestigious competition all girls managed to control their nerves and performed beautiful floor routines and confident vaults. It was a great experience for all.
We were delighted when the results were announced to hear that the U11s has placed 8th, U9s had placed 4th and the U10s had come first. A special mention also to Amelie who came first individually, Sofia who came 5th and Amelia who came 6th.
Well done to all from your very happy and proud coaches!!
