All girls play an important part in the performing arts at Rowan and their enjoyment and enthusiasm is evident at the many shows and music concerts, assemblies and church services, in which they perform throughout the school year.
Girls have superb opportunities for participation and performance at all ability levels. The Rowan String Initiative runs in Year 1, where every girl in the year group learns to play either the violin or the ‘cello. As girls progress through the school, visiting music teachers offer individual lessons on a wide range of instruments.
Singing is an important part of life at Rowan. There are 5 choirs, including 2 chamber choirs welcoming all girls and 2 auditioned singing groups, for the most able. Girls can audition for the chamber orchestra and many enjoy playing in the clarinet and saxophone group, string ensembles, flute choir, percussion and jazz groups and guitar ensemble.
Each year, we achieve scholarships for drama and music to a wide range of senior schools and actively encourage and support girls to enter LAMDA exams and Associated Board music exams.
