Key Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4)

(Ages: 7 - 9 years old)

Whether girls move up from Rowan Brae or join us from elsewhere, the smooth transition from Year 2 into Year 3 is managed with care and understanding.

Individuals are supported on their journey to becoming independent and confident learners, achieving their very best along the way. In Year 3 and 4 we provide a nurturing environment with a balance of specialist teaching in some areas of the curriculum whilst maintaining a form-based approach to learning. In any classroom you will see girls engaged and involved in their lessons whether it be building a Viking long ship in a day, making and selling bath products for charity in their Engineering and Technology lessons or producing a school newspaper in the Computing suite.

Collaboration is an essential part of school life and girls are taught to work effectively together in the classroom, within their Houses and at play in our Spinney. Year 3 girls enjoy a very special relationship with their Year 6 ‘paired reader’ who in addition to reading with them each week acts as a support to help them to easily settle in to life at the Hill.
