This morning Rowan hosted our annual Public Speaking Competition; representatives from City of London Freemen's School and The Lady Eleanor Holles joined us for a series of wonderful performances. Rowan was represented in Year 6 by Charlotte and Danya, who both delivered their speeches (on the importance of failure and breaking the law respectively) with confidence and flair. In Year 5 we were represented by Charlotte and Luella who spoke with clarity and eloquence on the impact of technology and girls’ education. The competition was fierce, with four finalists in Year 6 and six in Year 5. The standard from all the finalists, across the schools, was extremely high and our judges, Rebecca Glover (Surbiton High School) and Joanna Hubbard (The Rowans School), were faced with the challenging job of deliberating on the winners for each category.
In the end, the winners were:
Overall winner: Y5 pupil from The Lady Eleanor Holles.
Well done to all the girls who have took part this morning and a big thank you to parents, staff and judges for all your support for this event.
